Wildfire Prevention & Smokey Bear Education Programs

Wildfire prevention education is one of the most requested educational programs for the Mississippi Forestry Commission. Fire safety education is one of the best ways to help prevent wildfires that can harm Mississippi’s forest resources.

Since 1944, Smokey Bear has been the voice of wildfire prevention nationwide. His “Only you can prevent wildfires” message has resonated with the public for decades.

About the Program

MFC Public Outreach Officers use Smokey Bear and his resources, along with local information, to bring the wildfire prevention message to local communities across the state.

This program is available for schools, summer library programs, and other community organizations. Wildfire prevention and Smokey Bear appearances can be tailored based on the age of participants.
