The Mississippi Forestry Commission (MFC) has announced dates for the 2020 Prescribed Burning Short Course. The Prescribed Burning Short Course is open to the public and designed for anyone wishing to become a Certified Burn Manager in Mississippi.
Three sessions will be offered across the state in 2020.

Upon completion of the Prescribed Burning Short Course, participants will qualify to take the Mississippi Certified Prescribed Burn Manager exam on the last day of the course. Registered Foresters will earn CFE credit.
In the hands of a Certified Burn Manager, prescribed burning is a safe way to apply a natural process to manage forestland. Prescribed burning is one of the most efficient and cost-effective tools available to foresters and landowners in the Southeast for understory management, fuel reduction, site preparation, wildfire risk reduction and wildlife habitat improvement.
Registration is currently open for the March course. There is limited capacity and registration is required. Applicants will be taken on a first-come, first-served basis.
