Mississippi Arbor Day Tree Giveaways and Sales 2017

As a public resource, the Mississippi Forestry Commission reached out to our natural resource partners to compile a statewide list of tree giveaways and sales.

Arbor Day in Mississippi is Friday, February 10, 2017. February 10-17, 2017 is also Tree Planting Week in Mississippi as designated by Governor Phil Bryant’s Arbor Day/ Tree Planting Week Proclamation.

As a public resource, the Mississippi Forestry Commission reached out to our natural resource partners to compile a statewide list of tree giveaways and sales. It may not be comprehensive. These events are not facilitated by the Mississippi Forestry Commission. If you are aware of additional Arbor Day tree giveaways or sales in your area, please send the information to bforester@mfc.state.ms.us, and it will be added to the list.

On Arbor Day and Tree Planting Week community partners, families, and friends join together to celebrate the benefits of trees and urban forests to recognize the unique beauty and diversity of our native trees, which provide a powerful and lasting impression on visitors and lifelong memories for residents. Trees will be planted statewide, creating a lasting legacy for future generations.

Mississippi has been celebrating Arbor Day since 1926 as a special day to recognize the statewide contributions of trees and forests. The State of Mississippi benefits from forestry, which contributes $12.79 billion to the state’s economy, over $20 million (on average) toward education through School Trust Land timber sale revenue, and employs almost 70,000 people.
